A collection speaking to bodies under siege, where African American durags meet Nigerian survival, where heritage meets healing. Protection in many forms, told through fabric and stone.

My Accra Collection explores protection, both from external violence and internal storms.

The Durag Series was born watching young Nigerian men targeted during End SARS simply for expressing themselves through dyed hair or style.

I created these two-toned durags drawing inspiration from the equalizing purpose of hijabs - one side featuring solidarity designs I developed with Fahd Bellow, the other tactical black for survival. 

The colors echo a bag of blue skittles, my favorite - because even in addressing police brutality and lost lives, I refuse to let darkness consume the narrative. These pieces merge African American durag culture with the Nigerian habit of wearing baseball caps, creating something new for today's struggles.

The Anxiety Coats are my answer to social anxiety in textile form. I sourced fabrics from Chinese markets in Accra, choosing materials that soothe the senses. What makes these pieces unique is their incorporation of vintage Ghanaian stone beads as weights. These beads, traditionally used for adornment, now serve as grounding elements - turning each coat into a wearable weighted blanket. It's about finding new purpose in old traditions, managing modern struggles with ancient tools.

This collection lives at the intersection of protest and peace, tradition and innovation. It's armor for both the streets and the mind.
