LEGACY.WORLD: A RETURN TO HOME
Legacy: A Return to Home"
At Lume Studios, I created a journey through three spaces of healing and remembrance.
In the Room of Knowledge, our legacy unfolds through projected film diaries of my travels across Ghana, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Benin, and Lagos. Here, Buddhist monks from Wat USA Buddhayaram Temple lead us in stillness while Tibetan bowls sing. Traditional Benin dancers, led by Mrs. Asemota & Friends, move through ancient rhythms of praise. On the walls, a stark timeline traces African conflicts from post-colonization to now - each name a reminder of what was lost.
The second room confronts October 20, 2020 - End SARS. A shrine rises, bearing faces of fallen freedom defenders, their images washing over all four walls. Here, Sati bowls guide us through necessary rituals of grief and healing.
The final space speaks to rebirth.
As Tunde Jegede's "Heritage" plays, my jewelry collection emerges - a fusion of Oriental and African geometries in silver, gold, and semi-precious stones. Each piece bridges my two worlds, creating something new from ancient traditions. All inside a faux tomb.
This experience maps the journey from acknowledgment through healing to resurrection. It's my love letter to home - not as a place, but as the understanding that blooms when cultures meet in respect.
