Maurice Bishop was a Grenadian revolutionary and leader of the New Jewel Movement. He led the People's Revolutionary Government of Grenada from 1979 to 1983, focusing on socio-economic development, education, and black liberation. However, he was later dismissed and executed during a coup led by Bernard Coard, causing political upheaval in Grenada.
